Do Shaklee Supplements Work?

A lifetime of results proves they do.

Proven Effectiveness:

It is one thing to say products are good, it is another to prove they are effective. Shaklee understands human health through scientific studies.

This research shows not only short term, but lifetime benefits gained from using Shaklee products.

Shaklee’s longstanding support for nutritional research involves collaborations with leading academic labs that are free and encouraged to publish their findings. The academics control publication of the results, not Shaklee.

Through these collaborations, Shaklee has published over 135 scientific papers and presentations, 90 of which are clinical studies published in peer-reviewed publications.

The “landmark Health Studies”

The “Landmark Health Studies” the first multi-study to examine 30+ years of supplement use, show that Shaklee users have better health outcomes than supplement non-users.

2005 – University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health compared multiple Shaklee supplement users to non-Shaklee multivitamin users and supplement non-users, who used only a multivitamin from another brand.

2015 – Tufts University performed the follow-up study comparing multiple Shaklee supplement users from the first study to supplement non-users.

Results: People who took Shaklee supplements had significantly better health than sample groups.

The Landmark Studies were conducted so Shaklee scientists could learn how the Shaklee supplements you take benefit your health.

The study demonstrated the powerful effects of long-term use of multiple Shaklee dietary supplements. People who took Shaklee supplements for 20 years or more had healthier levels of many chronic disease-related biomarkers including HDL cholesterol, homocysteine, and C-reactive protein.

What distinguishes Shaklee’s premium products from others?

The quality (and consequently the cost) of consumer goods is influenced by a variety of factors, including the quality of the raw materials and ingredients, the packaging, the extent of research and development, the scientific quality testing of raw materials, the manufacturing processes and location of factories. Please note details below.

Quality and Purity of Ingredients:

Rather like consumer food products, high quality ingredients are usually more expensive as they come from reputable sources like farms and organic suppliers etc.

Higher quality ingredients also means that the food supplements will be more effective at achieving their intended goals.

Shaklee’s “Beyond Organic” program guarantees the highest standards of ingredients.

While Shaklee encourages all consumers to purchase organic produce and ingredients, it is important to remember organic is a means of production; it is not a guarantee that the food is clean and free of chemical contaminants. Pesticides and herbicides—even when safely applied—can run off into unintended areas and farmland.

That is why Shaklee’s approach is to work with the finest suppliers and to go above and beyond to verify the safety, purity and potency of the ingredients used, after harvest.

Product Safety:

Shaklee’s Quality Assurance department made up of in-house scientists set the specifications for all ingredients and finished products. All new botanical ingredients are screened for more than 350 contaminants – well beyond what is required by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) which tests for 80 contaminants.

Shaklee performs over 100,000 quality tests each year to ensure purity and potency of our products. Much of this testing is performed in our own well-equipped labs, with no animal testing, but we also rely on qualified third-party labs.

Every ingredient and product is filtered through a technical and ethical screening process that sets the bar in the industry meeting or exceeding USP standards. The United States Pharmacopeia is a worldwide recognized scientific organization that sets standards for purity and quality for Medicines, Foods and Dietary Supplements.

Shaklee partners with EWG (Environmental Working Group) Verified to ensure their clean beauty products meet the most rigorous health and safety standards.

“With our mission to bring true wellness to the world, our partnership with the Environmental Working Group furthers our company commitment to product safety and transparency. We support the organization’s unwavering efforts to make a positive impact on the environment and public health. We’ve always held to the strictest quality and safety standards for our products, and we’re excited to push those standards even further with EWG VERIFIED certification”

Consistency in Product Quality:

The extensive quality control measures taken by Shaklee result in a high level of consistency in product quality. This consistency ensures that customers can expect the same high standards in every purchase, fostering trust and reliability in the brand.

Raw Materials Sources:

Sourcing from legitimate suppliers and farmers for products that come from all over the world is a challenge. There are unscrupulous suppliers whose products may not have the quality expected. Even worse is adulteration. This refers to the alteration of quality that takes place deliberately. It includes the addition of ingredients to modify different properties of a food product for economic advantage. US Food and Drug Administration refers to this as “EMA” Economically Motivated Adulteration. Which occurs when someone intentionally leaves out, takes out or substitutes a valuable ingredient or part of a food.

Shaklee has been sourcing raw materials and ingredients for over 80 years and has an institutional knowledge of the top, legitimate suppliers. Even then, Shaklee obsesses over the testing of these incoming raw materials, their entire brand depends on the legitimacy of these products.

Manufacturing Processes and Transparency:

All manufacturing of Shaklee products takes place in the USA or Canada. This is important as the FDA is able to inspect these facilities and verify certifications which is not necessarily the case for factories located in India, China or other countries.

Innovation:

Shaklee has 100+ patents and patents pending. This is important as this means the government has determined that your product is both completely unique and delivers an unexpected new benefit. It recognizes that your product is not just novel and innovative but that it works!

Shaklee’s state of the art Innovation Center was opened in 2015 in Pleasanton, CA with 50+ scientists including microbiologists, doctors, analytic chemists, biologists, nutritionists.

Each product has unmatched scrutiny from concept to doorstep. Shaklee cares about the safety of people and the planet.

Business Sustainability Practices:

Shaklee partners with business sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis to monitor its own, as well as its suppliers sustainability and carbon management practices. The average Shaklee supplier score is +10.4 points above the average EcoVardis score for the Consumer-Packaged Goods industry.

Sustainability includes 4 Categories:

Environment, Ethics, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and sustainable procurement.

Shaklee performed above industry benchmarks in these categories:

  • Sustainable Procurement: 52.2 (+14.7 above benchmarks)
  • Environment: 57.0 (+11 above benchmarks)
  • Labor & Human Rights: 56.8 (+8.1 above benchmarks)
  • Ethics: 56.2 (+12.6 above benchmarks)

–Dr. Wangari Maathai

At Shaklee, we’re part of a movement to make people and the planet healthier. Inspired by the visionary works of 2004 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Wangari Maathai and her Green Belt Movement, Shaklee began a tree-planting campaign across the United States and Canada on Earth Day 2006, encouraging the company’s 750,000 Members and Ambassadors to organize tree-planting events at the grassroots level in their respective communities.

Climate Change:

Climate Change

Climate change affects us all: our health, our livelihoods, our hope for the future.

Shaklee has taken consistent steps to reduce our climate impacts and help find solutions to the climate crisis. It’s one of the ways we work toward a better future.

Shaklee Corporation is the first certified Climate Neutral Company in the world, having earned that distinction back in the relative “dark ages” of voluntary corporate climate action in 2000. In our ongoing efforts to minimize our negative impacts and maximize our positive impacts, Shaklee purchases 100% renewable energy, renewable energy credits, and greenhouse gas emissions offsets for worldwide activities.

Shaklee fighting climate change

Given the increasingly rapid rate of climate change, and understanding that these changes are taking place more quickly than the best science predicted, Shaklee has aligned its vision for a better future with its day-to-day and long-term business activities.

Shaklee’s 2023 Carbon Neutral Protocol

Shaklee is carbon neutral. The greenhouse gas inventory for 2023, which includes all Shaklee-operated facilities worldwide—in the US, Canada, Japan, China, Malaysia, and Taiwan—was prepared by WSP Global. This inventory follows the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for all six Kyoto-defined greenhouse gases. Shaklee established operational boundaries for its global greenhouse gas emissions inventory and calculated the carbon footprint from Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The total greenhouse gas emissions from Shaklee’s worldwide operations in 2023 were measured and converted to metric tons of CO2 equivalent. To offset its carbon footprint worldwide, Shaklee partnered with “STX” and “Climate Impact Partners”, utilizing Green-e (and equivalent) certified renewable energy credits and Gold Standard carbon offsets.

The White House:

If everyday people are safeguarding their homes against toxic cleaners, then why not safeguard the most guarded family in the United States? The presidential homes have done just that.

In an interview with Barbara Walters prior to his inauguration, President Barack Obama vowed to “green” the White House, including evaluating the mansion’s energy efficiency and turning the lawn into an organic garden. In addition, to protect his oldest daughter Malia from asthma attacks, the President said he would select a natural, toxin-free line of cleaning products for The White House staff to use.

Shaklee CEO Roger Barnett recently announced (2011) that The White House and the Vice President’s residence (known as The Admiral’s House) are now using the Shaklee Get Clean product line.

Oprah!

In 2007, Oprah listed the Shaklee Get Clean starter kit as one of her favorite products. She has featured the products on many of her “green” episodes, including a recent “Going Green” show. Oprah says she’s a big fan of Shaklee’s H2 Organic Super Concentrated Cleaner. “Use a couple of drops of this, and it’s amazing,” she says. “You can clean the windows. You can clean the counters. … You can clean everything!”

The Shaklee Guarantee:

100% Guaranteed. Even If It’s 100% Used Up.

Shaklee believes in the safety and proven performance of all of their products. If you’re not satisfied with any of their products, you can send them back to Shaklee for a full refund. Even if the container is empty.
